ATCS is seeking a Senior Roadway Engineer to join our Virginia transportation team in a hybrid role based at our Herndon headquarters. You will lead roadway design for VDOT and municipal projects, mentor staff, and contribute to proposals and business development.

Ideal candidates have 6+ years of roadway design experience, a Civil Engineering degree, and a PE license is preferred. Familiarity with ORD, AASHTO/VDOT standards, and microStation is required. Competitive salary and benefits await.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• 6+ years of roadway design experience, preferably in Virginia.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; candidates licensed in other states considered with Virginia licensure commitment.
• Experience with MicroStation OpenRoads Designer (ORD); Civil 3D experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of AASHTO, VDOT, and local design standards and practices.
• Ability to manage design tasks independently with minimal oversight.

Aufgaben

• Lead and produce roadway design plans including geometric design, alignments, superelevation, typical sections, and grading for VDOT and municipal projects.
• Prepare and review construction plan sets including plan/profile sheets, cross sections, drainage layouts, MOT/TMP plans, and signing/pavement marking plans.
• Apply VDOT RDM and standards to ensure compliance on state/federal projects.
• Coordinate with subconsultants and multidisciplinary teams across disciplines.
• Manage design schedules, budgets, and deliverables for assigned tasks or segments.
• Support QA/QC reviews and ensure design consistency across deliverables.
• Interface with clients (VDOT, counties, municipalities) during design reviews and hearings.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers/designers.
