Job summary

AlfKa is seeking a Senior Roadway Designer to lead design efforts for Florida projects, collaborating with FDOT and local agencies. You will develop models, perform analyses, and prepare calculations while mentoring staff to ensure high quality deliverables.

You will coordinate with project managers and stakeholders, ensuring FDOT standards are met and timelines are achieved. Strong communication and leadership are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Florida.
• 4–10 years of progressive roadway design experience with FDOT and local Florida agencies.
• Minimum 6 months post-PE experience.
• Advanced knowledge of Microstation/OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoCAD Civil3D.
• Strong knowledge of FDOT Design Manual and standards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Proven leadership to guide teams and deliver results.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Engineer of Record for less complex projects, owning design and QA.
• Mentor engineers-in-training and designers to deliver quality work.
• Conduct calculations, prepare designs, ensure FDOT compliance.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders on solutions.
• Provide guidance and peer reviews to junior team members.
• Support business development and represent teams in client pursuits.
