Job summary

Volkert is seeking a Senior Roadway Engineer to support the Mid Atlantic Region in Springfield, VA. The role involves leading design efforts, coordinating with subconsultants, and ensuring DOT-aligned schedules and budgets.

The candidate should have a Civil Engineering degree and extensive roadway design experience, with proficiency in MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer. A PE and VOLEV experience are preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
• 8–15+ years relevant experience in roadway design.
• Proven skills in meeting DOT expectations, schedules, and budgets.
• Experienced in DOT design methods, plan preparation, standards, and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead or assist in developing project designs and direct engineers and designers to deliver projects on client-focused strategies.
• Develop and check engineering estimates, construction specs, and coordinate with subconsultants.
• Prepare reports, specifications, plans, schedules, and designs for projects.
• Work in a team to deliver transportation and civil design projects and participate in client meetings.
