Job summary

TJ Hunter Engineering, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Roadway & Drainage Design Engineer to lead complex transportation projects from concept through PS&E.

You’ll apply deep expertise in roadway geometrics, stormwater design, and H&H analyses, coordinating with TxDOT and municipal agencies while mentoring junior staff and ensuring design quality and regulatory compliance. Strong writing and communication skills, ability to manage multiple assignments under deadlines, and a PE license (TX) or ability

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited program.
• 10+ years of roadway and/or drainage design experience.
• Active PE license in Texas or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Extensive knowledge of TxDOT design criteria and standards.
• Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and related software.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and production of roadway and drainage plans per standards.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for stormwater systems.
• Coordinate with agencies to ensure design integration and compliance.
• Prepare PS&E packages and technical reports.
• Mentor junior staff and lead project tasks across teams.
• Support field data collection and constructability reviews.
