Job summary

Poutrix is seeking a Senior Roadway Design Engineer to join their Cleveland team. In this pivotal role, you'll design and develop infrastructure projects, leading various project aspects and maintaining high standards of quality and safety. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of engineering experience, a Civil Engineering degree, and a PE license.

The position comes with a competitive salary range of $126,592 – $161,405 depending on experience and location, alongside a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision coverage, and more.

Role Description

Arcadis seeks to hire a Senior Roadway Design Engineer to join the team in the Cleveland, Columbus, or Akron location. In this position, you will have the opportunity to lead and direct the development and design of infrastructure projects for roadways, including intersections, collector streets, urban arterials, rural and urban expressways, interstates, and interstate interchanges.

Role Accountabilities

• You will have the opportunity to perform different roles on multi‑disciplined projects including technical design, production lead, task leader, and assisting Project Manager and lead engineers.
• Participate in a client‑facing role, either as a team or individual, making presentations and managing client expectations.
• Project development experience should include working as an individual or through team efforts to assist in developing project scopes and budgets, interfacing with and maintenance of client needs for the Project Manager, mentoring and development of junior staff and design/drafters, development of project plans and maintaining project schedules, and ensuring project compliance with all Arcadis practices including quality and safety standards.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• 10 or more years’ relevant engineering experience including supervision of elements of large, complex projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Key Attributes

• Engineering experience with infrastructure design and construction engineering, including cost estimates, technical reports, construction plans, and project displays.
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as Civil3D, MicroStation, and experience with OpenRoads software.
• Familiarity with ODOT design standards and policies.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills for client‑facing and presentation duties.
• Ability to work on multiple unique assignments simultaneously.
• Strong organizational, analytical, problem‑solving, and self‑motivated, team‑oriented attitude with initiative and flexibility.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ohio PE license.
• Active participation in regional and/or national professional associations.
• Experience in maintenance traffic design.
• Experience in traffic signals design.
• Experience in roadway drainage design.

Compensation

Salary range: $126,592 – $161,405. Actual salaries will vary based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
