Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Field Inspector to support highway construction projects. You will perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, and materials under supervision, ensuring conformance with plans and quality control procedures.

Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and may require relevant certifications. Domestic and international travel may be necessary; a valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English for communication and documentation.
• Basic arithmetic skills applicable to measurements and calculations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to learn new technologies and bring them into field work.
• Knowledge of highway construction materials, methods and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, contracts and specs.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under direct supervision.
• Determine acceptability of day-to-day contractor work; review daily reports and quality control procedures.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance; measure quantities and may sample or test soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt.
