Senior Roadway and Structural Materials Engineer

Join us at WSP in the U.S. as a Senior Roadway and Structural Materials Engineer in our Sacramento, Oakland, and Los Angeles offices!

Job Description

WSP is seeking experienced engineers to coordinate roadway and structural materials projects, ensuring quality control and effective communication with contractors, vendors, and project teams throughout California.

Your Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with Resident Engineers, contractors, suppliers, and vendors on materials issues.
  • Develop and manage quality control/assurance programs.
  • Conduct meetings to resolve materials-related issues and ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Review and submit Quality Control Plans, inspection reports, and related documentation.
  • Support source inspection and QA activities, and assist in materials management.
  • Visit job sites and fabrication shops to verify QC/QA measures.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction practices, and project management.
  • Construction site experience, especially with transportation and commercial projects.
  • Ability to coordinate with regulatory agencies and understand relevant laws and codes.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with diverse audiences.
  • Attention to detail, results-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering.
  • Professional Engineering License (Civil) in California.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience with State DOT or large design/build firms.
  • Certified Welding Inspector or PCI Level II certification.
Benefits & Compensation

Salary range: $93,700 - $136,620, commensurate with experience. WSP offers comprehensive health, dental, vision, retirement, paid leave, and other benefits to support your career and well-being.
