Job summary

Peraton Labs is seeking a Senior Information System Security Officer to manage RMF-based security operations in a high-assurance environment. This on-site role is based in Laurel, MD, with potential work at a customer site near College Park, MD.

The position requires poly cleared credentials and hands-on RMF experience. You will lead ATO efforts, mentor junior ISSOs, perform risk analysis, and drive security engineering outcomes with internal teams to ensure compliance and robust security

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in information security/compliance for DoD/IC or government systems
• Experience leading RMF deliverables and ATO events for complex systems
• Strong leadership and ability to mentor junior staff
• Ability to communicate risk clearly to engineers and leadership
• Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph is required

Responsibilities

• Lead or co-lead ATO/reauthorization for complex boundary systems
• Mentor junior ISSOs and shape security operations playbooks
• Perform risk analysis and write formal recommendations to leadership
• Collaborate with internal teams to implement scalable compliance patterns
• Brief stakeholders on security posture and risk trends
• Support RMF tasks, evidence collection, and continuous monitoring
• Maintain SSP, control narratives, diagrams, and related artifacts
