Job summary

Edward Jones is seeking a Senior Risk Manager – Finance to join the Finance Risk Management team in Tempe, AZ. You will execute the ERM program, perform risk assessments, and partner with stakeholders to strengthen risk oversight and governance.

The role requires 5+ years of risk management, a Bachelor's degree, and strong analytical and communication skills. CPA and SOX experience are advantageous. This position offers visibility across the firm and opportunities to drive risk improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or accounting preferred.
  • 5+ years of risk management experience.
  • Experience building and influencing cross-functional stakeholder relationships to drive alignment and results.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and system-thinking skills with a track record of solving complex business challenges.
  • Effective communication skills with experience presenting to diverse audiences and delivering results in fast-paced, evolving environments.
  • CPA (preferred) and SOX experience set you apart.

Responsibilities

  • Execute Finance risk and control activities in accordance with the ERM Program and divisional requirements.
  • Perform critical business risk assessments, including new projects and initiatives, and maintain inventories of process, risk, and control data.
  • Deeply understand assigned processes, risk profiles, policies, programs, and ERM standards to enable effective risk oversight and governance.
  • Support owners of risks, issues or incidents with root-cause analysis, action plans, evidence review and remediation documentation.
  • Use GRC to document risk issues and assessment data; ensure timely reporting.
  • Develop reporting for risk forums highlighting trends, exposures and remediation status.
  • Monitor emerging risk and provide early-warning insights to leadership.
  • Develop KRIs to monitor the division's risk profile.
  • Assist in risk training and education to strengthen partner understanding of ERM.

Team Overview:

Join the Finance Risk Management team to execute the firm's Enterprise Risk Management framework for identifying, assessing, treating, mitigating, monitoring, reporting and escalating risks. The Senior Risk Manager – Finance serves as a trusted risk advisor and partner to the Finance division, collaborating with stakeholders across the organization to drive risk management initiatives.

What You'll Do:
  • Execute Finance risk and control activities in accordance with the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Program and applicable divisional requirements.

  • Execute critical business risk assessments, including new projects and initiatives, and maintain accurate process, risk, and control inventories to strengthen risk identification and evaluation.

  • Build and maintain deep knowledge of assigned business division processes, risk profiles, firm policies and programs, and ERM frameworks and standards to enable effective risk oversight, governance, and credible challenge.

  • Support business owners of out of appetite risks, issues or incidents, including root cause analysis, action plan development, evidence review, remediation documentation and effective challenge of action plan effectiveness.

  • Use GRC to document risk issues and assessment data in accordance with established SLAs, ensuring complete, accurate and timely reporting to enable effective risk management.

  • Support development of reporting and analysis for inclusion in risk forums that clearly communicate trends, exposures, remediation status and matters requiring escalation.

  • Monitor emerging risk and provide early-warning risk insight to divisional leadership.

  • Work to develop and inventory KRIs that enable effective monitoring of the division's risk profile.

  • Support development of risk training and education that strengthens business partner understanding and application of the Enterprise Risk Management Program

  • Stay informed on risk industry and educational/development opportunities.

Note: Internally, this role will be known as a Senior Risk and Control Associate.

What Experience You Need:
  • Bachelor's degree required (business, finance or accounting preferred)

  • 5+ years of risk management experience required
