American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a Senior Director of Risk and Insurance Management to lead a department of 15 and external vendors, overseeing insurance procurement, risk financing, and claims. The role manages a $100 million insurance budget, guides program marketing, and collaborates with legal on liability strategy.

The position oversees recovery and property/public liability claims, chairs the captive advisory committee, and works on interdepartmental program alignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Risk Management or related field required.
• MBA or JD desirable for advanced leadership and legal acumen.
• Experience in corporate risk management and insurance procurement preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the Risk and Insurance management department and vendors.
• Oversee insurance procurement and risk financing, including a $100M budget.
• Lead marketing of insurance programs and due diligence for strategic initiatives.
• Oversee recovery, property damage, and public liability claims.
• Collaborate with legal on disposition of significant liability claims.
• Oversee captive insurance program and interdepartmental coordination.
