Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Senior Risk Associate in the Global Payments Network to apply financial, quantitative, and risk assessment skills to safeguard the bank’s balance sheet from counterparty exposures. Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Military experience
• 1 year of counterparty credit risk analysis/credit underwriting/financial institution analysis
• 3+ years of experience in global payment clearing mechanics, merchant acquiring risk, or settlement float dynamics
• 3+ years of experience with risk management platforms and credit databases (e.g., Bloomberg, Capital IQ, Credit Risk Monitor)
• 3+ years of experience in business analysis or commercial credit underwriting in a large financial institution
• 3+ years of experience applying AI/ML tools to financial statement spreading, risk modeling, or portfolio surveillance

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive financial and credit risk assessments for new and existing counterparties
• Monitor daily, intraday, and settlement exposures
• Design and negotiate risk-mitigation structures (prefunding, reserves, Standby Letters of Credit, parental guarantees)
• Maintain continuous risk surveillance across the counterparty portfolio
• Lead end-to-end credit review workflows and present risk recommendations to senior committees
