Job summary

Elveo in Chantilly, VA is seeking a Principal RF/Electrical Engineer to lead RF and electrical design across satellite communications systems. You will analyze and implement link budgets, system dimensioning, and interference mitigation while engaging with SDRs, FPGAs, LNAs, and payload antenna design.

You will collaborate with systems engineering to inform constellation architecture and perform bench-level mechatronics, testing, and documentation. A strong Linux/Windows/Mac skillset is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in RF or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 15+ years of experience working on space payload hardware and software, preferably communications systems.
• Strong RF link budget understanding and RF components knowledge.
• Experience designing wireless communication systems and antenna theory basics.
• Hands-on experience with RF Front End, SDRs, LNA, SSPA, filters, and RF switches.

Responsibilities

• Support hardware (RF front-end) and software design and development.
• Assist in selecting and designing small satellite antenna technologies.
• Conduct link budgets, simulations, and RF system dimensioning for coverage and capacity.
• Support integration, testing, and delivery with partners/vendors.
• Plan ground testing configurations and RF performance evaluations.
