Job summary

STR is seeking an RF Engineer to join the Space Missions and Sensing sector. The role involves designing and testing RF hardware for sensing, electronic warfare, and related applications.

You will work in a fast-paced R&D environment with multi-disciplinary teams to transition prototypes into low-volume products. The position requires 5+ years of RF experience, strong MATLAB/Python skills, and the ability to obtain a TS security clearance.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Applied Math, Physics or related technical discipline.
• 5+ years experience with RF components and subsystems (T/R modules, filters, amplifiers, cables, ADC/DAC).
• Design experience in RF systems, subsystems, or component analysis (frequency planning, link budget, transceiver architectures).
• Experience with RF test & measurement equipment (anechoic chambers, VNA, scopes, spectrum analyzers).
• Proficiency MATLAB and/or Python; strong problem solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, implement, and test RF hardware systems enabling novel sensing and electronic warfare applications.
• Quantify goals, performance objectives, requirements, metrics, dependencies, and risks with the team.
• Design, simulate, and test RF systems focusing on integration, test, and verification.
• Perform trade studies and analyses of hardware architectures; validate with simulations and real tests.
• Build bench-top tests, integrate, calibrate, and document system performance.
• Collaborate with signal processing team on test concepts and execution methods.
• Plan and conduct over-the-air tests, evaluate readiness, write procedures and reports.
• Review system effectiveness and identify opportunities to mature subsystems and capabilities.
• Prepare design specs, drawings, test plans, and reports.
