Job summary

WGS Systems, LLC is seeking an RF Communications Systems Engineer with military and commercial radio domain experience to join our Frederick, Maryland team. The role emphasizes design, analysis, and performance planning for diverse radio networks across terrestrial, airborne, and satellite domains.

Candidates should demonstrate strong modulation, RF propagation, network design, and antenna modeling skills, with experience in mesh/MANET networks and data routing. Travel to events will be required.

Qualifications

• Candidate must be a United States citizen and will be required to maintain a government SECRET security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent, master’s degree desired.
• 10+ years’ experience with commercial and/or government radio communication systems and networks.
• Expert understanding of radio network design, signal modulation, RF propagation and cascade analysis, and antenna performance modeling.
• Demonstrated understanding of data networking protocols and routing schema.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to develop system schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Ability to independently develop detailed technical reports.
• Perform engineering and scientific analysis of collected test data.
• Develop system simulations and perform modeling of communications networks.
• Proficient in MS Office, Windows-based applications, Matlab and/or other technical analysis, modeling and design toolsets.
• Occasional domestic and international travel will be required.

Responsibilities

• System level design and analysis of military and/or commercial voice and data radio systems
• Experience with network and radio encryption standards and operations for both commercial and/or military systems
• Radio and network system planning, modeling, and performance analysis
• Design of radio network systems for terrestrial and airborne applications, including mesh/MANET networks
• Design of radio networks for wideband and narrowband voice and data using satellite communications
• Detailed planning and conducting of communications systems testing
• Close interaction with customer personnel during test and deployment events
• Provide communications integration support to prime and sub-contractors
• Conduct laboratory and field testing of communications components and systems
• Unit-level troubleshooting and debugging
• Test results data collection and support of analysis
• Provide weekly status updates to Leadership
