Qualifications

The Opportunity :

The Senior Coding Auditor, Compliance will assist with the development and execution of the Annual Compliance Workplan, including auditing and monitoring activities. They will lead detailed coding compliance audits, implement management action plans, prepare audit reports, establish and maintain an audit quality program, mentor auditors, and participate in compliance activities. The senior auditor is expected to work independently, manage projects, and use analytical skills to review complex accounts.

Job Responsibilities :
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Compliance Coding Auditor roles and responsibilities.
  • Conduct detailed coding audits on acute and physician sides.
  • Analyze findings to identify discrepancies, trends, and develop recommendations to mitigate risks, partnering with service line leaders on management action plans.
  • Create and maintain an audit quality program to monitor and improve audit processes.
  • Provide updates to Compliance leadership and escalate concerns as needed.
  • Create and maintain training materials for audit processes and tools, providing ongoing support to auditors.
  • Communicate compliance concerns effectively and timely to leadership.
  • Serve as a resource for coding leaders, keeping up with coding guidelines and standards.
  • Maintain audit records, reports, and track activities, managing issue logs and dashboards.
  • Assist with onboarding new auditors and support their questions and concerns.
  • Foster a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Assist in assessing and improving the compliance audit program.
  • Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and legal standards.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
  • Assist with work assignments and follow-up on deliverables.
  • Contribute to the annual risk assessment and work plan development.
  • Evaluate internal controls related to compliance.
  • Participate in other projects and compliance evaluations as needed.
Experience We Love :
  • Medical Coding certification (CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC, etc.) and auditing certifications preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in healthcare coding, compliance, or audits.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10, DRG, CPT, HCPCS, revenue cycle, and compliance standards.
  • Experience with Epic, Cerner, Meditech, and basic MS Word & Excel.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% as needed.
