Qualifications

• Software industry or public company experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review contracts to determine revenue recognition under GAAP and ASC 606.
• Identify revenue triggering events with program managers and apply recognition procedures.
• Maintain internal controls and documentation for automated systems and manual records.
• Monitor and reconcile deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, and accounts receivable.
• Prepare month-end close journal entries and complete period end close activities.
• Analyze standalone selling prices for products and services.
• Prepare quarterly schedules for disclosures and ad hoc management reports.
• Support ERP enhancements and assist external auditors during audits.

The annual base salary range is $120,000 to $130,000, plus a 10% annual bonus and 20% RSUs. Final compensation and job level depend on experience, qualifications, business needs, and location.

Our client is seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant for its finance team in Westford, Massachusetts. This role works with corporate and divisional finance teams to record revenue transactions accurately, apply ASC 606, reconcile related accounts, and provide customer and sales analyses to management.

Key responsibilities

• Review executed contracts and agreements to determine appropriate revenue recognition under GAAP and ASC 606.
• Work with program managers to identify revenue triggering events and apply revenue recognition procedures.
• Maintain internal controls and documentation for automated systems and manual records.
• Monitor and reconcile deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, and accounts receivable.
• Prepare recurring and period end journal entries and complete month end close activities on time.
• Analyze standalone selling prices for products and services.
• Prepare quarterly schedules for financial statement disclosures and ad hoc reports for management.
• Support ERP enhancements and upgrades through testing, and assist external auditors during the annual audit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; CPA preferred.
• At least four years of related accounting experience applying revenue recognition criteria in a software environment.
• Strong working knowledge of ASC 606 and experience with a large ERP system; Oracle and RevStream are pluses.
• Software industry or public company experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Excel and Word, with strong analytical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, work independently, manage competing priorities, and take ownership of deadlines.
