Job summary

The Morningstar Center for Retirement & Policy Studies seeks a Senior Quantitative Researcher, Retirement, to conduct empirical research on workplace retirement plan data, with emphasis on econometric analysis and simulation-based work. You will develop Morningstar white papers, brief stakeholders, and present findings to industry audiences.

This is an on-site role reporting to the Center director, ideally based in Chicago headquarters or a satellite office, with collaboration across Morningstar

Qualifications

• 6+ years of relevant experience conducting quantitative research in retirement, household finance, economics, public policy, employee benefits, or a related field.
• Strong applied econometrics and research-design skills, including experience with observational data, longitudinal or panel analysis, survey weighting, missing-data methods, or related techniques.
• Advanced proficiency in a statistical programming language such as Stata, R, or Python.

Responsibilities

• Lead assigned original research projects from concept through analysis, interpretation, and publication, with senior researchers on priorities.
• Conduct empirical research using workplace retirement plan and survey data, focusing on econometric analysis and behavioral assumptions for simulations.
• Translate complex quantitative findings into clear articles, publications, presentations, and client communications.
