Job summary

St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Boston is seeking a Lead Respiratory Therapist to provide shift leadership, oversight, and staffing for the Respiratory Therapy department.

You will coordinate assignments, support staff, and ensure high clinical standards in assessment and therapy as ordered by licensed practitioners. Responsibilities include staff coverage, policy development, quality initiatives, and collaboration with clinical education and intradepartmental meetings.

Qualifications

• Degree from an AMA approved program in respiratory therapy; Bachelor degree required.
• RRT required; Licensed in respiratory therapy by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Current BLS, ACLS and NRP required.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all essential functions listed for the Registered Respiratory Therapist.
• Maintain and deliver high clinical standards in assessment, administration, education, and observation of respiratory therapy as ordered by Licensed Independent Practitioners.
• Provide direct oversight, assistance, support, and problem resolution to respiratory staff in all aspects of respiratory care, including organization, assignment, and coverage of workloads.
• Resolve call-offs while on site and make appropriate actions to assure adequate staffing levels for the following shift; cover in absence of department leadership.
• Act as a resource for development and troubleshooting for respiratory care staff; support intradepartmental meetings.
• Assist in the development of clinical care policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure consistency in objectives.
• Assist in ongoing evaluation, in-servicing, and purchasing of equipment and supplies; input into departmental selection and function.
• Assist with respiratory rotations and clinical observations from multiple schools and disciplines.
• Assist with quality improvement initiatives including data development and data collection.
• Actively organize weekly department meetings and participate in hospital meetings or committees as requested by Respiratory Leadership.
• Billing - reconciling daily billing.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
