Job summary

Rochester Regional Health is seeking a Senior Respiratory Therapist for Rochester General Hospital. The role supports the Respiratory Care Department with patient assessments, care planning, and administrative duties on 12-hour night shifts (Fri–Sun) totaling 36 hours per week.

Responsibilities include administering therapies, monitoring equipment, collaborating with the care team, and mentoring staff. Requires NY license, NBRC RRT, ACLS within a year, and 2 years of critical care experience.

Qualifications

• AS: Respiratory Therapy (Required).
• Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent certificate.

Responsibilities

• Patient Assessment & Care Planning: Reviews patient records and clinical data to develop and update individualized respiratory care plans; advises providers on appropriate respiratory interventions.
• Therapeutic & Diagnostic Procedures: Administers and documents a wide range of respiratory therapies, including medication delivery, airway management, oxygen therapy, ventilator support, and diagnostic testing.
• Equipment Management & Monitoring: Prepares, checks, and maintains respiratory equipment; monitors clinical parameters and adjusts treatment based on patient response.
• Collaboration & Communication: Works closely with the healthcare team to coordinate care, communicates patient status, and provides education to patients and families.
• Leadership & Training: Senior therapists lead shifts, mentor new staff, participate in education and quality initiatives, and support operations in inpatient or outpatient settings.
