Job summary

Westgate Cocoa Beach Resort in Florida seeks a hands-on Chief Engineer to lead engineering, facilities maintenance, and property operations at our oceanfront resort. You will manage a team, ensure HVAC/electrical/plumbing systems perform reliably, and drive safety and guest satisfaction.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in engineering leadership in hospitality, strong budgeting skills, and experience with CMMS/HotSOS to optimize maintenance programs and capital projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of engineering, facilities management, or maintenance leadership experience in a resort, hotel, hospitality, or commercial property environment.
• Experience managing building systems, preventive maintenance programs, capital projects, and operational budgets.
• Knowledge of resort operations, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pools, landscaping, laundry facilities, and building infrastructure.
• Experience using CMMS or maintenance management software such as HotSOS is preferred.
• OSHA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for all engineering, maintenance, and facilities operations throughout the resort.
• Lead, coach, develop, and mentor engineering team members while fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and operational excellence.
• Oversee preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment performance, facility reliability, and asset longevity.
• Ensure the safe and efficient operation of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, pool, life safety).
• Develop and manage departmental budgets, capital reserve plans, expense forecasting, and cost-control initiatives.
• Lead capital improvement and renovation projects from planning through completion within quality, budget, and timeline objectives.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA standards, company policies, safety regulations, and building codes.
• Manage vendor and contractor relationships and ensure service quality and contract compliance.
• Oversee procurement, inventory management, and proper utilization of department tools and materials.
• Utilize maintenance management systems to track work orders and performance.
• Conduct property inspections to identify risks and opportunities for preventive or corrective action.
• Support maintenance and repair activities to ensure uninterrupted resort operations.
• Communicate effectively with guests, team members, vendors, and leadership in writing and verbally.
• Respond to emergencies and operational issues with timely resolution.
