Job summary

Alta Resource Technologies is seeking a scientist to lead in-house resin synthesis and functionalization, developing analytical methods to characterize resin properties and guiding iterative improvements for process performance and scale-up.

You will work with protein chemistry and process engineering teams to connect material properties to adsorption performance, with roughly 70% hands-on laboratory work in Boulder, CO.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in chemical engineering or related field with hands-on lab experience in porous materials.
• Experience synthesizing porous polymers or inorganic materials and linking formulation to pore structure.
• Ability to run structured experimental campaigns and document SOPs/test methods.

Responsibilities

• Develop in-house resin synthesis and functionalization methods for adsorbents.
• Characterize resin composition, porosity, and ligand loading with validated methods.
• Evaluate performance: protein immobilization, adsorption capacity, selectivity and stability.
• Establish bench-scale, reproducible workflows and optimize reaction conditions.
• Translate workflows into scalable process specifications and support tech transfer.
