Job summary

Carollo Engineers is seeking a senior construction/project engineer to lead large water/wastewater projects in Houston. You will monitor budgets, schedule, and quality on site, while coordinating with clients, contractors and project teams to deliver on time and within budget.

The role requires extensive experience, PEC registration, and deep knowledge of CM processes. A strong emphasis on safety and mentoring junior staff is expected, with opportunities in proposal work and business development.

Qualifications

• 15+ years experience including a lead role in $20 million or greater construction value water/wastewater project.
• Experience focused in W/WW infrastructure and treatment projects.
• Completion of OSHA 10-hour safety course and other construction safety training.
• Thorough understanding of construction management processes and in-depth financial understanding of construction management.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors and lead engineer/project team.

Responsibilities

• Budget monitoring and construction quality on the project site.
• Prepares monthly contract status reports, budget reviews, and evaluates amendment and change order requests.
• Reviews construction schedules for compliance with contract documents.
• Oversees timely workflow of construction documentation (submittals, RFIs, clarifications, etc.).
• Mentors and trains less experienced construction/field engineers.
• Contributes to proposals and client interviews; cultivates client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for budget monitoring and construction quality on the project site
• Prepares monthly contract status reports, budget reviews, and effectively evaluates and negotiates amendment and change order requests
• Reviews construction schedules for compliance with contract documents
• Reviews contractor schedule of values and payment applications
• Oversees timely workflow of construction documentation (submittals, RFIs, clarifications, etc.)
• Responsible for working as a team with the contractor, client, field team and designer
• Report writing
• Responsible for preparation of meeting agendas and portions of proposals
• Mentors and trains less experienced construction/field engineers
• Involved on team that prepares proposals and conducts interviews
• Cultivates client relationships and helps pursue new opportunities

Qualifications

• 15+ years experience including a lead role in $20 million or greater construction value water/wastewater project
• Experience focused in W/WW infrastructure and treatment projects

• Thorough understanding of construction management processes and in-depth financial understanding of construction management
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors and lead engineer/project team, and deliver high quality services within budget and schedule constraints
• Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to learn quickly and be extremely organized
• Working knowledge of construction management software such as Prolog, Bentley EADOC, Procore, BIM 360, etc.
• Working knowledge of construction scheduling software including Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project
• Working knowledge and understanding of construction methods, standards, specifications and plans
• Strong oral and written communications skills
• Strong computer and internet skills
• Proficient in MS Word and Excel
• Bachelor of Science in civil engineering or related field
• Professional Engineer registration

Compensation Range

We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
