Job summary

Enovate is seeking a Senior Resident Engineer with 10+ years of field engineering or construction supervision experience on large-scale tunneling, rail, or heavy civil projects. You will lead field teams to ensure work aligns with contract documents, safety, quality, and environmental requirements.

The role requires PE license (preferred), CCM or NICET, and strong capability in PMIS/BIM tools. Expect collaboration with Change Management, inspectors, and laboratories to maintain schedule

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years in field engineering or construction supervision on large tunneling, rail, or heavy civil projects.
  • 5+ years in a senior resident engineer or equivalent role.
  • PE license preferred; CCM or NICET certification beneficial.
  • Knowledge of NEPA, FTA, FRA, Buy America, and related regs.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily field engineering operations (layout, surveys, instrumentation, alignment checks).
  • Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs; enforce contract drawings and specifications.
  • Lead NCR resolution and update as-built records.
  • Collaborate with Change Manager to assess field change requests (scope, cost, schedule, regulatory commitments).
  • Conduct site inspections to verify CECP, SSMP, and QMP compliance.
  • Coordinate materials testing and liaise with labs to validate results.
  • Oversee interface coordination, clash mitigation, sequencing, and stakeholder communication.
  • Mentor field engineering staff, inspectors, and survey teams; document daily logs and diaries.
  • Support commissioning and rail activation planning; verify field readiness and testing protocols.
  • Drive punch-list close-out and handover documentation.

Position Summary
  • We are seeking a Senior Resident Engineer with 10+ years of experience in field engineering or construction supervision experience on large-scale tunneling, rail, or heavy civil projects. The Senior Resident Engineer will provide leadership and technical oversight of field engineering and construction activities. This role ensures that all contractor work aligns with contract documents, technical provisions, safety, quality, environmental, and interface requirements.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate daily field engineering operations, including layout, surveys, instrumentation, and alignment checks.
  • Interpret and enforce contract drawings, specifications, and technical provisions; review and approve contractor submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs.
  • Lead resolution of Nonconformance Reports (NCRs); verify corrective actions and update as-built records.
  • Collaborate with Change Manager to evaluate field-level change requests, assess impacts on scope, cost, schedule, and regulatory commitments.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to confirm compliance with the Construction Environmental Control Plan (CECP), Safety and Security Management Plan (SSMP), and Quality Management Plan (QMP).
  • Coordinate materials testing and inspection activities, witness field tests, and liaise with independent laboratories to validate results.
  • Oversee interface coordination on site—facilitate clash mitigation, schedule sequencing, and stakeholder communication.
  • Mentor and supervise field engineering staff, inspectors, and survey teams; ensure accurate documentation of daily logs, checklists, and field diaries.
  • Support commissioning and rail activation planning by verifying field readiness, system alignments, and testing protocols.
  • Drive punch-list close-out: confirm completion of outstanding items, secure completion certificates, and finalize handover documentation
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of field engineering or construction supervision experience on large-scale tunneling, rail, or heavy civil projects.
  • 5+ years in a senior resident engineer or equivalent role.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or NICET Level III/IV in relevant disciplines.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification.
  • Optional: PMP, Prosci Change Management, or specialized BIM certification
  • Deep understanding of NEPA, FTA, FRA, Buy America, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Proven expertise with PMIS platforms, BIM coordination, and field survey instruments.
  • Ability to navigate construction sites, including climbing stairs or accessing unfinished spaces, when required for estimate development.
  • Ability to climb stairs and navigate uneven terrain.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, stand, walk and reach in varying climates (hot, cold, etc.)
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30lbs
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, vests, and steel-toed boots, for prolonged periods.
Skills and Competencies
  • Exceptional technical judgment and problem-solving in complex field environments.
  • Strong leadership and team management; ability to mentor junior staff.
  • Excellent communication for interfacing with contractors, DP teams, GDC, and SEP.
  • Rigorous attention to detail in record-keeping, reporting, and quality assurance.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit/Navisworks clash detection, and scheduling tools (Primavera P6/MS Project)
