Job summary

TYLin International in Los Angeles is seeking a Senior Resident Engineer/Structures Representative to lead on-site structural construction oversight and ensure contractor work complies with plans and specifications. You will coordinate with the Project Manager, agency personnel, and clients, and mentor staff while upholding safety and quality standards.

Required are a Bachelor's in Engineering, 15+ years in complex bridge construction, Caltrans project experience or oversight, and a CA PE

• PE license in California preferred; client/agency coordination experience.
• 15+ years' experience in complex bridge construction and construction management.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent analysis and review of falsework and shoring plans.
• Conduct field inspections of all falsework elements and submittals.
• Coordinate with Project Manager, Agency personnel, and contractors.
• Prepare cost estimates for project activities and ensure contract compliance.
• Mentor/train staff and enforce firm’s quality management plan.

We steward precious resources by finding more sustainable solutions.Job SummaryThe Senior Resident Engineer/ Structures Representative serves as the company and client representative at the work site, responsible for all structures construction work to ensure that the work performed by the contractor is in accordance with the plans and specifications. The Resident Engineer works independently on structures construction items while reporting directly to the Sector Leader. Also responsible for managing company and local agency personnel as the work pertains to structures construction. Performs complex analysis and review of structures-related submittals including, but not limited to, falsework, shoring, pre-stressing.Responsibilities & QualificationsResponsibilities:Perform independent analysis and review of falsework plansPerform independent analysis and review of shoring plansPerform independent analysis of other structures construction-related submittals and plansPerform field inspection of all falsework elementsEnsure the application of project specifications and the execution of plansProvide written progress, technical and special issues reportsPrepare detailed cost estimates for the different activities required for the projectWork with the contractor on coordination of workAct as liaison with Project ManagerManaging project documentation and assuring contract compliance with contract requirementsAbide by and enforce construction safety rules and regulationsReview contractor pay estimates and submittalsPerform field inspection dutiesDirect field inspection/support staffConduct daily and weekly communication with Project Manager, Agency personnel and other senior staffMentor/train staff membersImplement firm’s quality management planOther duties as assignedQualifications:Bachelor's Degree in EngineeringProfessional Engineering (PE) License (State of California Preferred)15+ years' experience with the concepts and practices with complex bridge construction along with successfully serving as Structures Representative on at least three bridge projects on with a minimum construction value of $50 million.Must be experienced in oversight of company and local agency staff and sub consultants and have the ability to effectively and efficiently work with the Sector Leader and clients to assist in the resolution of project issues.Must be able to write effective and concise reviews comments, and reports. Must be able to articulately work with Contractors and other team members to effectively resolve field issues.Previous construction management experience for Caltrans projects, or projects that had Caltrans oversight, is a requirement.Steel girder bridge and precast concrete girder bridge construction experience along with work within railroad right-of-way is preferred.Additional InformationT.Y.
