Together, we are building stronger communities by getting students and colleges the resources they need to succeed and expanding pathways to economic and social mobility across California. Join us as we continue this important work to uphold the value of community colleges in building a brighter future.

What You'll Do

The Foundation's Equity programs provide quality resources, educational programs, student engagement, and training for Community Colleges and the students that they serve, especially those who have been historically underrepresented.

California Medicine Scholars Program (CMSP), which is a statewide partnership pathway that begins at community colleges to produce more underrepresented, primary care physicians and, in turn, reduce health disparities in California communities. The CMSP pathway includes regional, collaborative efforts organized by Regional Hubs of Healthcare Opportunity (RHHOs) and include community colleges, 4-year universities, schools of medicine, community health clinics, and community-based organizations.

Duties of this position include conducting research, performing evaluation studies, providing data assistance to RHHOs, coordinating organizational and other external research efforts, and meeting reporting requirements of California Healthcare Access and Information (HCAI) and private funders. This position works closely with the Director and Sr. Researcher, Qualitative, helping support short- and long-term strategic planning as it relates to CMSP research, data, and evaluation efforts. The ideal candidate has strong quantitative research skills, having led multiple large-scale quantitative studies and projects.
  • Manage data analysis and conduct advanced statistical analyses using tools such as SPSS or MaxQDA.
  • Analyze data from various sources (e.g., National Center for Educational Statistics, National Student Clearinghouse, California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office, Association of American Medical Colleges) to draw meaningful and actionable insights.
  • Serve as a liaison between CMSP, other external partners, and RHHO personnel, facilitate presentations with leadership and RHHO personnel, and synthesize program implementation within each and across RHHOs.

Attributes For Success
  • Lead, conduct and/or coordinate surveys of students, staff and faculty, including data gathering and analysis to inform optimal practices.
  • Lead data cleaning, preprocessing, validation, collection and reporting for the California Medicine Scholars Program.
  • Maintain and present documentation and applied research findings and best practices at statewide and regional conferences/gatherings with community colleges, 4-year universities, community-based organizations, and health centers, and/or other partners and stakeholders in support of CA Medicine and the RHHOs.
  • Team members are hired for their expertise in niche areas across our areas of impact and higher education overall, and for their knowledge of business, philanthropy, technology, communications, and more
  • We have a commitment to professional development and an emphasis on shared leadership, to ensure growth for employees and the organization overall
