Mathematica seeks a senior researcher in its Human Services department to advance TANF, employment and training research and performance measurement. Mathematica is seeking senior researchers to join our HumanServices department. We are especially interested in candidates with substantial expertise in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and employment and training programs that help parents and other adults in families with low incomes obtain and sustain employment. We also seek candidates with demonstrated expertise developing and using performance measures to monitor program implementation, service delivery, participant engagement, and outcomes and to support accountability and continuous improvement.
We are looking for people who are excited to solve complex policy and programmatic challenges in ways that are evidence- and data-driven, and who can agilely adapt to an evolving policy and technology landscape. This position leads and supports project teams within the department and across the company in the planning and execution of projects for clients such as, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, state and local agencies, and Foundations and nonprofits. This role is primarily focused on programs designed to improve outcomes for children and families. Although TANF, employment programs for families with low incomes, and performance measurement are priority areas for this search, we will also consider candidates with substantive expertise in family strengthening, economic mobility, early childhood, child welfare, and related topics.
The role includes leading, conducting, and advising research, monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities. This may include leading, designing, and implementing program evaluations and other research studies; overseeing or providing technical assistance focused on evaluation, performance measurement, and program improvement to organizations serving families, youth, and adults; advising clients on strategy and policy; and linking and using data to answer complex policy-relevant questions. The role also includes identifying proactive business development opportunities and responding to federal and non-federal requests for proposals.
