Qualifications

• Degree: major or equivalent in psychology.
• Mathematics/Statistics: 24 semester hours in mathematics and statistics, incl. 12 math and 6 statistics.
• Statistics: 15 semester hours in statistics (or math+stats).
• Combine education and experience: 24 semester hours math/statistics with appropriate experience or further education.
• Foreign Education: credentials evaluated by a credentialing agency.
• Experience: professional statistical work including sampling, data collection, analysis, and statistics methods.

Responsibilities

• Advise senior management on survey methods, policies, and standards.
• Oversee research on complex survey methods problems; apply advanced statistics theory.
• Direct research to improve survey instruments and data collection procedures; user systems.
• Advise on questionnaire design, data collection methods, and non-sampling bias analysis.
• Mentor staff; present seminars on advanced topics to BLS researchers.
• Maintain collaboration with internal staff and external experts on survey methods research.
