University of Washington’s Institute for Protein Design seeks a Research Scientist/Engineer Senior to lead protein-inorganic interface design and drive externally funded materials research programs, including ARIA POEM. The role oversees international collaborations, directs complex multi-institution projects, and mentors staff toward technical and project management excellence.

The successful candidate will manage proposals, coordinate DOE Genesis Mission activities, and report to the IPD

Qualifications

• PhD in Biochemistry, Chemistry or Materials Science with 7+ years of related experience.
• Advanced expertise in de novo protein design of protein-inorganic interfaces.
• Demonstrated leadership of multi-institution research programs and securing external funding.

Responsabilités

• Directs ARIA POEM program (50%): lead project, plan milestones, define technical approach, oversee data collection and interpretation.
• Lead UW role on the DOE Genesis Mission project (25%): coordinate multi-year efforts and secure new funding.
• Direct independent research on de novo design for inorganic interfaces and macroscopic functional hybrids.
• Develops proposals, identifies funding sources, and presents results to sponsors and peers.
• Represent the program externally with invited talks and workshops.
