Job summary
Astera Institute's Polytope Bio residency seeks a Senior Research Associate or Scientist 1 to join the experimental biology team in Emeryville, CA. You will design and execute high-throughput cloning and strain engineering experiments, develop workflows for DNA assembly, library construction, and screening assays.
Collaborate with computational researchers to translate measurements into data that improve AI models.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree with significant hands-on research experience in molecular biology or related field.
- Industry experience of 3+ years in biology research preferred; PhD welcome.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute molecular biology and microbial engineering experiments for high throughput measurements.
- Develop and optimize biological assays and workflows to increase throughput and data quality.
- Own experimental projects from design to interpretation and documentation.
- Analyze experimental data to identify trends and inform next steps.
- Build robust lab protocols, workflows, and quality-control systems.
- Maintain laboratory operations and a safe, productive environment.
- Contribute to open science by sharing methods and datasets.
