Job summary

Google DeepMind's team in Mountain View, CA seeks a Senior Staff Research Scientist for Gemini Research. You will lead cross-team research agendas focused on post-training, evaluation, RLHF, and scaling reasoning abilities in Gemini models.

You will publish results, guide evaluation metrics, and shape long-term research strategy to advance alignment, capability, and impact across the organization.

Qualifications

• PhD in CS or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6 years of research experience across multiple teams or projects.
• Publications submitted to conferences, journals, or repositories.

Responsibilities

• Author research papers to share and generate impact of research results across organizations and in the research community.
• Contribute to research growth by sharing research trends and best practices within the community by reviewing academic papers, serving on program committees and grant panels, speaking at Google events or research conferences, or organizing research conferences and visioning activities.
• Deliver full projects by defining the data structure, framework, design, and evaluation metrics for research solution development and implementation. Identify timelines and obtain resources needed.
• Identify new and upcoming research areas by interacting with potential external and internal collaborators. Own long-term research strategy and plans to expand the impact of Google research.
• Identify undefined problems in existing technology and engage stakeholders and leaders to address them.
