Job summary

Veeco in Plainview, NY seeks a PhD-level researcher to advance plasma-based systems. You will design and analyze lab experiments, model processes, and collaborate across teams to translate new technologies into products.

Travel up to 25% is expected; strong communication and independent work are essential; a bonus program applies.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and development of plasma-based systems, including modeling, design, and experimental validation.
• Design, execute, and analyze laboratory experiments related to plasma processing, ion sources, thin film deposition, etching.
• Troubleshoot process and equipment performance and develop innovative solutions.
• Characterize materials and thin films using analytical techniques.
• Document and communicate technical results through reports, presentations, publications, and patents.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new technologies and applications.
• Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Strong background in plasma science, materials processing, or related technologies.
• Experience with plasma system modeling, experimental research, and data analysis.
• Experience with vacuum systems and laboratory equipment.
• Knowledge of thin film deposition and etch processes.
• Experience with plasma diagnostics is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to travel up to 25%, including domestic and international travel.

Salary And Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $140,272.00 — $187,029.00, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
