Senior Research Nurse (Part Time) - Center for Clinical & Translational Sciences

Position Summary: The role involves direct nursing services including patient assessments, lab draws, infusions, IVs, vital signs, and administration of oral medications. The nurse will coordinate, direct, and implement nursing care within research projects, ensuring compliance with protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate and administer nursing care within research projects according to protocols.
  2. Conduct physical assessments and educate participants on research objectives, benefits, and risks.
  3. Maintain contact with patients, physicians, and other stakeholders to support recruitment and study support.
  4. Assist in developing and implementing research protocols.
  5. Collect, verify, and interpret research data; contribute to reports, presentations, publications, and grant proposals.
  6. Keep investigators and administrators informed of research progress.
  7. Manage inventories of drugs and supplies.
  8. Identify issues and recommend procedural improvements.
  9. Supervise support staff to ensure quality and adherence to protocols.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills: Registered Nurse (State of Texas)

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing with 3 years of related experience or Associate's degree with 5 years of related experience.

Preferred Experience: Experience with research studies, direct nursing services, developing EPIC smart phrases, and patient care following protocols.

Physical Requirements: Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.

Residency Requirement: Must reside and work in Texas.
