Senior Research Nurse (Part Time) - Center for Clinical & Translational Sciences

Join the McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics at UTHealth Houston as a Senior Research Nurse (Part Time).

Position Overview: This role involves direct nursing services including patient assessments, lab draws, infusions, IVs, vital signs, and administering oral medications. The nurse will coordinate, direct, and implement nursing care within a research project, ensuring compliance with protocols and providing guidance to support staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and administer nursing care within research projects according to protocols.
  • Conduct physical assessments and educate participants about research objectives, benefits, and risks.
  • Maintain contact with patients, physicians, and sponsors to support recruitment and study support.
  • Assist in developing and implementing research protocols.
  • Collect, verify, and interpret research data; contribute to reports, publications, and grant proposals.
  • Manage inventories of drugs and supplies, and oversee support staff activities.
  • Potentially manage HR activities such as recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (State of Texas)
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing with 3 years of related experience, or Associates degree with 5 years of related experience.
  • Experience with research studies, patient care following protocols, and developing EPIC smart phrases is preferred.

Physical Requirements: Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently.

Employment Details: Part-time, benefits-eligible position, 24 hours/week.
