Job summary

County of Santa Clara seeks a Senior Research and Evaluation Specialist in Custody Health Services. The role leads research and evaluation across programs, develops partnerships, and manages grants and contracts to improve service delivery for incarcerated populations.

Requirements include a Master’s or higher in a relevant field and at least three years of research experience with dissemination of findings; doctoral degrees can substitute for one year. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Education and experience in research, evaluation, and grants as described in the Training and Experience Note.
• Experience with publicly funded research and dissemination through publication or presentations.
• Ability to travel and work in correctional settings with appropriate background checks.

Responsibilities

• Leads applied research, evaluation, and assessment studies and cost-benefit analyses for programs and services.
• Assists management in defining research agendas, goals, and measures for program evaluation.
• Implements funded studies in compliance with funding agency standards.
• Participates in preparation and submission of IRB proposals.
• Develops and manages research grants and contracts.
• Applies research designs and analytical strategies for evaluation projects.
• Supervises staff in research and evaluation activities.
• Coordinates monitoring and evaluation of services and grant opportunities.
• Interacts with grant writers and other agencies to support grant writing.
• Prepares reports and presents findings to diverse audiences; contributes to peer-reviewed publications.
• Maintains liaison with local governments, community groups, and planning bodies.
