Job summary

The Moffitt Cancer Center seeks a Manager Research Environmental Health & Safety to serve as the top safety officer for the Moffitt Research Institute. This role develops and oversees all safety, health and environmental programs and hazardous materials management, including policy writing, hazard evaluation, and training.

It collaborates with researchers to implement project-specific safety procedures and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, biology, chemistry or similar.
• Master's degree in Safety, Environmental Health & Safety or similar preferred.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) required; CHMM also required.
• Valid Florida driver's license with good driving record.
• Seven years' experience in occupational/environmental health & safety, with 3 years of direct supervision.

Responsibilities

• Develop, plan, implement and oversee safety, health and environmental programs.
• Manage hazardous materials handling and write safety policies, procedures and training.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA/EPA/FDA regulations and related reporting.
• Hire, coach, and manage direct staff; supervise performance and development.
• Collaborate with researchers to create project-specific safety procedures.
