Obiter Research LLC in Champaign, IL is seeking a Research Chemistry Manager to lead our chemistry operations within a manufacturing environment. You will oversee research programs, guide process development, and coordinate with QC and other departments to deliver on project milestones.

The role requires a Masters or PhD with extensive experience in organic synthesis, plus strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Masters degree or PhD with relevant experience required.
• Experience in fast-paced environment delivering multiple projects.
• Lab-scale process development in organic synthesis.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Creative, critical thinker with proof-of-concept ability.
• Proficient in outlining initial scoping and PoC stages.
• Translate commercial needs into technical programs and drive execution.
• Ability to evaluate risk and determine path forward.

Responsibilities

• Supplies and supports activities for research and synthesis projects.
• Communicates with customers regarding quotes (RFQs) and SOWs.
• Works with Executive Leadership to design processes for project completion.
• Orders needed chemicals and supplies after project acceptance.
• Organizes administrative functions across departments including Process Development and QC.
• Serves as special assistant to the COO/Supervising Chemist and/or CEO.
• Ensures chemists are trained and adhere to COPs.
