Job summary

William Blair in New York is seeking a sell-side Research Associate to assemble and validate data on quality growth companies and perform fundamental analysis under Senior Analysts. You will develop and update financial models and prepare reports for investment teams and clients.

You will visit companies, attend conferences, and build relationships with executives, while ensuring compliance with firm standards and contributing to investment ideas and recommendations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required.
• CFA, CPA, or technical designation preferred.
• 2–5 years of related investment research experience required.
• SIE Exam, Series 7, 63, 86, and 87 required (must be obtained within first 180 days).
• Advanced conceptual and critical thinking skills.
• Advanced accounting and financial statement analysis skills.
• Proficiency in building computer generated financial models.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills; ability to convey complex financial information clearly.
• Client service oriented.
• Ability to work independently in support of team goals.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bloomberg, and other investment industry standard data sources.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and validate data on quality growth companies using internal and external data sources.
• Assist senior Research Analysts in defining objectives and approaches for specific research projects; build/update financial models.
• Prepare internal and external written reports, notes, presentations, and other materials to communicate research findings.
• Visit companies, attend conferences and other events; build relationships with executives and document contact points.
• Identify and formulate new investment ideas and communicate opinions to clients.
• Respond to inquiries from clients and investment teams regarding securities and industry groups.
• Ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Additional responsibilities as requested.
