Department Information

The Center for Community Resilience (CCR) at the Milken Institute School of Public Health, part of the George Washington University, aims to improve community health by aligning policy, programs, and practices to address adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) within adverse community environments, known as the Pair of ACEs. Our innovative approach emphasizes equity and prevention, influencing initiatives, programs, and policies at various levels. Over the past five years, our networks have led systemic and policy changes to tackle economic, social, and health disparities through community partnerships, service integration, and political advocacy.

The GW Institute for Racial and Socioeconomic Equity (The Equity Institute) focuses on creating actionable knowledge and educating leaders to eradicate racial, ethnic, and economic inequalities globally. It aims to serve as a model for universities partnering with communities through research, publication, and leadership training.

Both centers are seeking a Senior Research Associate to conduct mixed methods and policy research, providing high-quality findings to support policy and practice changes addressing the Pair of ACEs.

Responsibilities
  1. Research and Management:
    • Collect, organize, and visualize quantitative data at national, state, and local levels.
    • Develop research protocols, including interview guides and surveys.
    • Lead qualitative data collection through interviews, focus groups, and stakeholder discussions.
    • Analyze qualitative data, including transcription, coding, and reliability assessment.
    • Conduct policy research, background analysis, and develop reports.
    • Perform literature reviews and explore innovative research methods.
    • Mentor students and research assistants.
  2. Research Dissemination:
    • Present findings through reports, visuals, and presentations.
    • Collaborate on scientific manuscripts for publication.
    • Present at professional conferences.
  3. Program Support:
    • Support program activities such as meetings and stakeholder engagement.
Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in a related discipline with at least 3 years of relevant experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Training in qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Post-graduate degree in Health Science, Public Health, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with Systems Thinking.
  • Strong statistical interpretation, policy analysis, and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Apps, Mural, Otter.ai, DeDoose, and Kumu.io.
  • Interest in equity and community resilience.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing schedules and building rapport.
Additional Details

Salary Range: $50,741.17 - $80,927.47

Location: Foggy Bottom, Washington, D.C. (Hybrid work model)

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
