The Position

This position is mostly on-site, based in La Place Ct, Carlsbad, CA. This position may require travel between sites within 1 mile.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Research Associate in the Assay Integration team, you will be responsible for directing experiments and summarizing results for projects to integrate and transfer molecular diagnostic assay products from the bench and to develop and commercialize them on the cobas eplex sample-to-answer platform. You will have combined assay development and software functional responsibilities to build and develop scientific excellence in molecular diagnostics, fully automated instrument systems, hardware, software, system engineering, design control, verification and validation studies, clinical studies, and others.

In this role, you will:

  1. Direct the planning and design of experiments.
  2. Independently conduct scientific experiments.
  3. Identify and solve problems in experimental designs.
  4. Design experimental protocols for routine use.
  5. Read literature directly associated with assigned projects to suggest improvements.
  6. Analyze data, interpret results, and suggest the next experiments. Conduct data analysis and interpretation of results.
Who You Are
  • You have a B.S./M.S. in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields.
  • You have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in Molecular or Immunodiagnostics, IVD Product Development on fully automated systems, or related fields in new system development.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in developing multiplex PCR and/or reverse-transcriptase-PCR assays is preferred.
Preferred Skills and Qualities
  • Experience with product development projects from feasibility to launch in a GMP environment, including Design Control methodologies and IVD regulation experience.
  • Molecular biology proficiency.
  • Strong discipline, commitment, and effective organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence, think strategically, and solve problems effectively.

Relocation benefits are not available for this position.

Salary and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position in Carlsbad, CA is $82,700 - $96,400. Actual pay will be based on experience, qualifications, location, and other factors. A discretionary annual bonus may be available. This position qualifies for the benefits detailed at the provided link.
