Job summary

The Center on Poverty and Social Policy is seeking a Senior Research Analyst (Staff Associate III) to conduct rigorous research across projects, leading analyses using the Poverty Tracker and guiding project deliverables. The role requires coordinating data-intensive work and supervising hourly student researchers.

Responsibilities include proposing and executing research in social policy, mentoring teams, communicating findings to media and policy partners, and presenting at conferences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a social science field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 4–6 years of social science research experience required.
  • Proficiency with data management and analysis software (Stata/R) and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead research projects and analyses using Poverty Tracker data to meet project goals.
  • Develop and execute research on social policy at NYC, national, and state levels.
  • Supervise hourly student research assistants.
  • Develop subject matter expertise through literature reviews and technology updates.
  • Assist PI with manuscript preparation and related deliverables.
  • Communicate findings to press and advocacy groups, and build external partnerships.
  • Present findings at conferences or to public bodies.
  • Other responsibilities as needed.
