NIET is seeking a candidate to serve as a Senior Research Analyst, who will support all aspects of NIET’s research activities. This position will require expertise in managing quantitative datasets and applying appropriate statistical methods to analyze data. The candidate will also write memos, briefs, reports, and articles, and provide research expertise to other NIET projects and staff. This position will be supervised by the Director of Research.
Duties Include, But Not Limited To:
- Conducting research projects from conceptualization and data compilation to analysis and reporting
- Cleaning and maintaining large quantitative datasets from multiple sources, ensuring data accuracy and readiness for analysis and reporting
- Creating and organizing visual presentations based on data and research
- Monitoring data collection efforts across projects
- Participating in research design and instrument development discussions
- Designing research surveys
- Assisting with federal, state, and local grant writing, evaluation, and reporting
- Writing and editing, research memos, briefs, reports, and articles
- Tracking research studies, communicating research to staff and participating in planning meetings
- Representing NIET’s Research and Evaluation department at meetings as needed
- Working on special research projects for CEO as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in research methods, education policy, economics of education, education research, or related field
- Three years of experience working on research projects, including managing, cleaning, and analyzing complex data sets
- Strong statistical coursework and experience, including conducting quasi-experimental designs to evaluate program effectiveness
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with education research, data management, and statistical programs (e.g. SPSS, R)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; experience with Microsoft Access is a plus
- Strong internet and electronic literature research skills
- Demonstrated excellent writing and communication skills, including written, oral, and visual communication of data
- Willingness and ability to work as part of a small team
- Willingness and ability to learn new data analysis techniques and software programs
