Job description

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

The Department of Epidemiology at the Mailman School of Public Health is recruiting a full-time experienced research analyst to work with Dr. Zeki Al Hazzouri's research team on her ongoing projects mainly focused on cognitive aging and ADRD. The analyst will join a research team with active NIH funded projects that use advanced statistical methods to understand determinants of dementia.

Current projects include (1) combining multiple data sources to create a large and diverse pooled synthetic birth cohort to study lifecourse social and vascular risk factors for ADRD (and age-specific interventions) while estimating an corrections for selections foces including survival, enrollment, attrition, and reverse causation, (2) a prospective cohort and program evaluation of late life learning's ability to mediate cognitive decline and early psychosocial exposures in Beirut, Lebanon (3) studies on the role of statin use on ADRD risk and disease burdens (4) relationship between hypertension, treatment, and ADRD risk among veterans and (5) other projects investigating the role of social determinants and financial determinants in particular on both general late-life health and cognitive outcomes. Research conducted includes numerous population-based studies with extensive epidemiologic and clinical data.

The research analyst is expected to increase their methodological expertise and substantive knowledge for lifecourse determinants of disparities in Alzheimer's diseases and other related dementias, and build skills for developing and implementing research studies. They will contribute to the development of analysis workflows and projects to answer targeted research questions about lifecourse determinants of aging and should be comfortable balancing independent and collaborative work. They will perform population health research activities, including designing and carrying out research questions, managing various datasets, performing data analyses, helping with manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals, and providing other research and methodological support for existing and ongoing studies of the research.

Minimum Qualifications

A master's degree in epidemiology or biostatistics or a related field. 5 Years of experience in epidemiology or public health. Programming experience in STATA or R is required. Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and independent project management skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

The successful candidate must possess a high level of initiative, clear communication skills, and attention to detail in addition to a demonstrated ability to be flexible to the team's evolving needs. Ideally, the candidate will have experience in health and epidemiology related research and a demonstrated interest in reproducibility and data management.
