Main Purpose of the Role
The Senior Software Requirements Engineer is responsible forunderstanding subsystem features and applying an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, elicit, create, andmaintainhigh‑qualitysoftware requirements.
This role works closely with systems engineering, software development, verification, and clinical stakeholders to evaluate system requirements and ensure thatin addition to needed functions,software requirements appropriately account for code development, verification activities, and clinical aspects of software functionality.
The Senior Software Requirements Engineer supports product development by performing corerequirementsengineering activities—including investigating, defining, analyzing, and documenting requirements—for assigned projects and features. This position requires analytical thinking, technical judgment, and the application of engineering and scientific principles to solve complex technical problems.
The role involves independently resolving assigned tasks within projects by applying both technical and clinical understanding, exercising sound judgment in planning and executing work, and using effective, efficient, andbest‑practiceapproaches to requirements management.
Main Responsibilities
Create, define, andmaintainformalsubsystem‑levelsoftware requirements.
Analyze system requirements, user needs, and system designs; collaborate withcross‑functionalstakeholders to gather, refine, andvalidaterequirements.
Take ownership of assigned features or updates, including planning work, coordinating with team members, communicating progress, and aligning activities with project leads.
Lead and contribute to technical discussions and design reviews related to assigned features.
Support investigation of proposed new features by assessing technical risk, implementation complexity, and development effort.
Develop deepsubject‑matterexpertisein assigned areas, enabling effective support of development and verification teams and participation in systems engineering discussions related to new features and defect investigations.
Key Skills for Success in This Role
Requirements Management Experience:
3+ years of experience managingsystem, software, firmware, or related requirements, including the use of tools such as IBM DOORS or equivalent.
Requirements Elicitation and Analysis:
Strong ability to elicit, analyze, and document requirements by engaging with stakeholders, subject matter experts, and cross‑functional teams.
Clear Communication:
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to technical and non-technical audiences.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Proven ability to work closely with team members, gather input, understand concerns, and incorporate feedback into well-structured requirements.
Self‑Direction and Ownership:
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and drive assigned investigations and deliverables to completion.
Appropriate Level of Detail:
Skill in tailoring the level of detail in requirements and documentation to suit the audience, purpose, and development phase.
Learning and Knowledge Sharing:
Ability to quickly learn new features, technologies, and domains through research, documentation review, and expert engagement, and effectively share this knowledge with the team.

Strong aptitude for understanding new technical concepts and explaining them accurately and concisely to others.

Experience with DOORS
Experience working with medical devices specifically related to Jude Medical/Abbott Pacemakers, ICDs and ICMs
This position is for in-person and on-site work at the Abbott facility inSylmarCalifornia.
The base pay for this position is
$90,000.00 – $180,000.00
In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
