Job summary

Stewart & Stevenson is hiring a Rental Field Service Technician III in Houston, TX. You will diagnose faults and perform complex repairs on portable diesel air compressors, generators, forklifts, and related rental equipment both at the shop and at customers' sites.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED with 3–7 years related experience, a valid driver’s license (CDL preferred), and tools. Stay compliant with safety standards and DOT requirements while ensuring equipment readiness.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; 3–7 years related experience.
• Ability to perform complex repairs on portable diesel equipment and related rental gear.
• Dependable, honest and punctual with a strong work ethic.
• Troubleshooting and communication skills, written and spoken.
• Must provide own hand tools and maintain a DOT Medical Card.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and perform complex/mechanical repairs on portable diesel air compressors, generators, and forklifts.
• Maintain shop/truck stock; order parts as needed.
• Complete work orders and time sheets accurately and timely.
• Adhere to safety procedures including LOTO protocol.
• Plan yard/field schedules and assist junior technicians.
