Senior Remote Production Operations Specialist
Job Summary

The Senior Remote Operations Specialist will be responsible for creating, overseeing, planning, and executing the technical management of remote sports categories and other special projects as needed throughout the year. They will provide technical expertise to production and operations teams in planning and executing remote assignments.

Responsibilities
  • Leads technical surveys for upcoming events, traveling to locations to determine technical requirements, obstacles, crew size, equipment needs, schedules, and costs.
  • Develops plans and leads complex tasks affecting remote event outcomes.
  • Provides cost information for remote technical elements, manages vendor contracts, and ensures adherence to cost standards.
  • Designs technical CAD drawings illustrating signal flows for remote broadcasts.
  • Supervises technical personnel on location, manages records, and approves crew and travel times.
  • Acts as the technical operations lead when on location, overseeing planning, budgeting, supervision, and post-event reports.
  • Oversees installation, operation, teardown, and maintenance of technical equipment, ensuring quality of remote origination.
  • Advises production teams on technical costs and options.
  • Serves as safety supervisor following OSHA and insurance regulations.
  • Collaborates with organizing bodies on technical process design and implementation.
  • Keeps abreast of technical innovations, leads vendor and facility selection processes.
  • Maintains communication with other sport category managers regarding technical developments.
Required Qualifications
  • Deep knowledge of equipment technology and procedures.
  • Strong organizational, procurement, financial, and logistical skills.
  • Proficiency in computer training related to technical equipment used in remote events.
  • Knowledge of electronics, broadcasting, video, audio, RF, lighting, videotape, and maintenance systems.
  • Minimum 10 years of broadcast experience, primarily as a field technician.
  • Advanced knowledge of HD and SD broadcast formats and operations.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and similar programs.
  • Understanding of television electronics principles including signal routing, media management, transmission, and IP systems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, manage teams effectively, troubleshoot onsite problems, and lead technical initiatives.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications include advanced knowledge of ESPN and ABC Sports remote operations technical requirements.

Required Education includes a High School Diploma and specialized technical or engineering courses in electronics or radio/TV. A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.

Additional Information

The salary range for this remote position is $157,932 to $243,650 annually, depending on region, experience, and skills. Compensation may include bonuses, incentives, and benefits.
