Job summary

Joby Aviation's Flight Research team seeks an experienced remote pilot to operate R&D UAS platforms and lead daily flight operations onsite. You will perform pilot command duties, support flight test operations amid evolving procedures, and collaborate with engineers during pre/post test activities.

The role requires Part 61/107 credentials, a current Class 3 medical, 7+ years of UAS experience, and a track record in leading test missions and developing SOPs within a safety-focused culture.

Qualifications

• Part 61 Private Pilot with Instrument rating.
• Part 107 Remote Pilot certificate.
• Current Class 3 medical.
• Experience operating Group 3+ UAS.
• Experience with manual (non-GPS) and/or augmented flight modes.
• Fully automated remote flight.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• At least 7 years of relevant experience.
• Significant UAS experience (>300 hrs and >200 sorties).
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Development and administration of policy and procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as the senior remote pilot in command for various R&D aircraft platforms.
• Conduct preflight planning and inspections of the system.
• Support test planning and participate in test rehearsals.
• Post flight reports, both internal and external.
• Lead other crewmembers in preparation, execution, and post-test activities.
