Job summary

Tin Can in Seattle, WA is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own the end-to-end call routing platform. Our stack runs on FreeSWITCH and Kamailio in AWS, with Lambda-backed activation flows; you’ll shape, test, deploy, and instrument the path that connects families.

You’ll work with SIP, SRE, firmware, and product teams to ensure reliability, observability, and scalable delivery, while moving fast and safely.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and operating production backend or distributed systems with noticeable downtime impact.
• Real depth in AWS and infrastructure as code (Terraform) and a bias toward reproducibility.
• Reliability as a discipline: SLOs, alerting, load testing, and incident reviews that influence future work.

Responsibilities

• Own the reliability outcomes experienced by users—connectivity, audio quality, and reachability.
• Own the deployment pipelines for changes into production; ensure tests, reversibility, and governance.
• Build the product-outcome layer of observability with funnels and SLOs alongside infrastructure metrics.
• Lead root-cause analysis and incident reviews; drive teams to prevent repeats.
• Collaborate with a reliability PM to translate diagnosis into actionable backlog items.
