Job summary

KLA in Milpitas, CA, is seeking a Sr. Reliability Engineer for SEM Systems to tackle reliability challenges on advanced semiconductor inspection systems.

You’ll identify failure mechanisms, investigate root causes, and drive solutions from problem identification through implementation. This hands-on role requires deep knowledge of SEMs and precision systems, with 15% international travel and collaboration with suppliers to qualify components and validate manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree with related 5+ years of experience.
• Master's degree with 8+ years of related experience.
• Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Drive reliability and uptime of SEM systems used for wafer inspection and review, targeting industry-leading system availability.
• Identify potential failure modes by evaluating designs, processes, and tests.
• Develop and implement DOE to validate component and system performance, reliability, and durability.
• Define and assess accelerated life testing, environmental testing, and stress testing conditions.
• Establish reliability requirements and qualification plans for critical components and subsystems.
• Review data to ensure products meet reliability and performance targets.
• Collaborate with suppliers to qualify components and ensure manufacturing readiness.
• Lead factory acceptance/qualification activities before release.
• Investigate field and factory failures using data science techniques and advanced modeling.
• Drive corrective actions and continuous improvement based on reliability data.
