Job summary

Wieland in Illinois seeks a Senior Reliability Engineer to lead maintenance and reliability across the East Alton plant, owning SAP PM and driving predictive maintenance, root-cause analysis, and maintenance planning. • Experience working with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and automated industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all maintenance and reliability activities comply with LOTO, electrical safety, machine guarding, OSHA, and plant safety standards.
• Partner with Operations, Maintenance, and EHS teams to support incident investigations, safety audits, interlock management, and continuous improvement of regulatory compliance and workplace safety.
• Own and maintain the SAP PM system, including equipment hierarchies, functional locations, preventive maintenance plans, job plans, BOMs, and reporting.
• Monitor and track execution of preventive maintenance work orders and maintenance compliance.
• Develop and Review oil analysis, vibration analysis, thermography, and other predictive maintenance reports; coordinate corrective actions as needed.
• Investigate equipment failures and downtime events, facilitate root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Wieland is hiring a Senior Reliability Engineer. The Senior Reliability Engineer is responsible for improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime, maximizing asset performance, and supporting safe maintenance practices across the plant. This position leads predictive and preventive maintenance initiatives while serving as the primary owner and administrator of the SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) system. The role works closely with Operations, Maintenance, Electrical, Engineering, and EHS teams to identify equipment failures, implement corrective actions, optimize maintenance strategies, ensure compliance with safety standards and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). The Reliability Engineer is also responsible for developing maintenance procedures and job plans that incorporate appropriate safety controls, regulatory compliance, and OEM best practices.

Base Salary Range: $93,000- $124,000

May be eligible for a variable compensation plan bonus based upon company performance within fiscal year cycle.

Senior Reliability Engineer Responsibilities:

• Review equipment faults, breaker trips, interlock issues, and downtime causes with maintenance and electrical teams.
• Develop and maintain standardized breakdown response procedures, shift communication processes, and OEM maintenance standards.
• Create maintenance job plans and procedures based on OEM recommendations and reliability best practices.
• Ensure SAP inventory and spare parts are properly assigned to equipment and functional location BOMs.
• Lead OPRA/mobile maintenance implementation, train technicians, and drive work order compliance through mobile technology.
• Utilize SAP GUI scripting and automation tools to improve maintenance scheduling, KPI reporting, PM management, and CMMS efficiency.
• Track and report key reliability metrics, including OEE, MTBF, MTTR, PM compliance, and downtime performance.
• Promote continuous improvement, safety compliance, and asset reliability across the facility.

Senior Reliability Engineer Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering
• 4+ years of reliability, maintenance, or engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) and maintenance planning systems.
• Strong knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies and root cause failure analysis.
• Experience working with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and automated industrial equipment.

Senior Reliability Engineer Preferred Qualifications:

• CMRP, CRE, or similar reliability certification.
• Experience with rolling mills, steel, aluminum, or other heavy manufacturing operations.
• Advanced SAP PM and SAP GUI scripting experience.
