Job summary

Apple Inc. in the San Francisco Bay Area is seeking a Sr. Software Release Engineer to lead and innovate release management for cloud network services.

The role focuses on large-scale pipelines delivering highly available, resilient systems and requires deep expertise in cloud networking and software reliability. You will collaborate with cloud architects, SREs, and network engineers, drive automation quality, and communicate engineering proposals that influence team success.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and operationalizing large-scale release (CI/CD, Chaos & Scale) testing platforms.
• Solid understanding of cloud-native networking components: VPCs, peering, transit gateways, service meshes, NATs, firewalls, etc.
• Expert knowledge of API design and interface technologies (JSON, ProtoBuf, REST, RPC, XML, etc.)
• In-depth knowledge of K8s, OpenStack, system virtualization, build systems, and infrastructure as code
• Outstanding communication skills with the ability to articulate concepts, designs, and decisions
• Strong knowledge of observability systems (metrics, logging, tracing) and qualification engineering
• Broad knowledge of networking solutions across OSI layers 3 through 7

Responsibilities

• You will establish standard methodologies, implement resiliency measures like chaos testing, drive performance and capacity planning, lead incident response and postmortems, and maintain detailed release documentation.
• You’ll partner closely with multi-functional teams including cloud architects, SREs, and network engineering to ensure quality in deployment automation and operational reliability.
• Additionally, you will present and defend engineering proposals that can significantly influence team and organizational success.
• Effective collaboration and communication with other teams are crucial to support their use of our platform.
